The new cave painting

I made these acrylic paintings to the wall in the wardrobe of Rik Reinking at his home in Hamburg. This action took part in ArtGenda 2002 happening in "Hausbesuche"-(homevisit) project. The idea of hausbesuche was to approach the situation openly without any strong predestinated model what to do. So I developed the content of the artwork after having met Rik and discussed with him. Before seeing Rik I only had a core-idea to make new cave paintings.
Rik is an art collector and he showed me pictures of his collection. I as well presented him works I've done before. After this session I ended up making these "New cave paintings" to the place where he keeps his clothes. The form of the pictures is based on my sculpture "Aspi" (1999) because it has a reference to Rik's interest in minimalistic art period in his collection. The placement and the context of the work is related to more like today's arts values within certain sense of absurdity.
