Half random

Half random is an installation about randomity and decisions. Before starting to work in a gallery space I gave myself some rules: I decided to use only three simple elements to work with: the surface, material and placement of the work, rectancular holes and rectancular painted areas beside every hole. Then I wrote a randomity-based computer script which gave me the placement,size and color of every other element of the work. I cutted and painted one element the way the program ordered me to do. After that it was my turn to make a decision where and how to cut and paint the next element of the work. And then it was again computer's turn and so on. This interplay between randomity and artist's decisions lasted seven days and it is the base of the work's aesthetics and architecture. Half random was made in Galerie Air Garten at Berlin, Germany during April 07.
