Three, 2003

Three is a plan for a public sculpture to Jyväskylä University's Ylistönrinne area.The sculpture is nine meters long and three meters high. The material of the work is mirror surface stainless steel. Each of the sculpture's three sides has a hole which has a similar form, related to the surfaces length. By multiplying and watching it from different places this simple view becomes more complicated and raises questions about perceptions in general level. This plan participated in an invitation contest for eight sculpturers in order to find an artwork for the area in question. The contest was arranged by the University of Jyväskylä and the state of Finland. ("Three" will not be realised, pictures here are from 1:50 model.)
